&lt;p&gt;If you're looking at running more than one python application on the OLPC or even on a standard desktop, you're in trouble about memory usage so startup time doesn't really matters. Moreover, this daemon should start only on demand, because it would be painful to fire it up during startup.&lt;/p&gt;


&lt;p&gt;I am not against this improvement anyway. I think that would even make sense for C applications. It's just another daemon hanging around in my memory. Now what if it gets swapped...&lt;/p&gt;</description>
